I love the ship, but don't you think it's a bit wiered to have two humanoids?

Well, when I meant "Humanoid", I didn't mean like Vulcan close, I meant like Na'vi or farther. I disliked making a humanoid, I admit, but for some reason, the ship to me screamed "NASA astronauts pilot this!" And the idea of teh iathrians being humanoid stuck. By Carl Sagan's speculative entries into the Drake Equation, there's millions of races in a good galaxy. Who's to say that only two would even just resemble humans in form?

It's just not as fun, in my opinion at least, to RP with a humanoid than a true extraterrestrial. And, actually there's a very thin chance of that bodyplan occuring more than once.

I really don't care if it's humanoid or not, I take no sides on this debate. If you guys can at least have fun, then each to his own preference.
I think we as humans have a suitable and efficient form. Trying to think of any other configuration does make it harder to understand one's creature and their mobile capacity. My Sombrerons were hard enough trying to convey human emotions and posses through their configuration, but I miraculously managed. Even Hydro's Naucean convey human emotions and expressions when he draws them.
I want to use human expressions in my creatures so that other people can connect and get to know them better. When combined with a good and original background, people will like them even more.
So far, kitkat really hasn't given any specifics, but the humanoid form alone is extremely versatile in many variations of shape and form.

D...D...Drake Equation? *shudders* Seriously, he leaves out so many factors (is there a gas giant to deflect asteroids, etc.) that it isn't even funny.Other than that, these guys look promising. Just please try to lean towards District 9 on the semi-humanoid scale and less towards the Na'ive. I mean, James Cameron was wildly creative with everything on Pandora except the giant blue cat people. At least Neill Blomkamp had the guts to make the prawns really alien but still kind of human, while Cameron chickened out and made, well, giant blue cat people. Phew, my tiny rant is done. It's healthy to keep in practice, you know.

Haha, you're the most unconventional scientific mind I've ever had the pleasure to meet, King!
I've been considering, maybe I shouldn't even describe them in detail. I could just allow the readers to take their own ideas on their looks, until maybe it becomes important.

What about just leaving out their form for now, and adding it in later when you feel like doing it?

Aww. To me the physical description is one of the most important things about a race. But I guess it's your call, I'll just be picturing them as silhouettes.

So what does mean to you if a race has no set form, ink?

The Iathrians, Part I: OverviewImage by the spectacular Gec!
The Iathrians are semi-humanoid, with the overall form being reminiscent of humans, but many of the details are vastly different. One of thgeir most notable features are their heads, which are arranged very uniquely compared to most upright/humanoid species. Their heads are essentially upside-down, with their mouths on top of their head, going straight down into the stomach. Their eyes are situated directly under the jaw, lying roughly on the jawline. Their eyes are drastically slitted, developed to let in as little light as possible while still allowing some in, due to the intense brightness of the sun on Iathria. Their systems are highly specialized as a result of their surrounding, as a nicely evolved being will often display. The hot and often humid climate of Iathria has led to the hair concentrated on their heads being bleached pure white, reflecting most of the sunlight that hits their heads. Their body, on the other hand, is a clay-reddish color from minerals found in the sand and soil of the planet (More on that later). The blue patches on their neck and midsection are large heat radiation surfaces, where most of the hemocyanin blood vessels are concentrated to relieve their body heat (hemocyanin is colored blue, rather than red, like hemoglobin is , but is likewise used to convey oxygen.)Also an evolutionary trait of heat radiation, they are generally very tall and thin, and do not gain weight via fat (More on that later.) Their hands and feet are positioned in a way so as to give them a large surface area, useful in navigating sand and loose soil very common on Iathria.

Oooh, that looks great! A nice way to do a humanoid, with more "-oid" than "Human" I love how they look like they're constantly scowling.

That is one awesome picture. Awesome features too. I don't see why people complain about humanoid creatures. I think they're awesome if you can really switch things around. In fact, I could easily see an entire galaxy based around the humanoid form with large differences between each creature (probably because my first creature on GS was a humanoid). But that's just me rambling. Awesome pic and awesome creature!
