I think that we should try to be as freeform as possible, but at the same time, I feel like there needs to be some general guidelines that we should all follow in order to make this galaxy a success. Here are some of my suggestions that we can discuss (and at the same time, propose some of your own so that everyone can participate in this). If enough people agree on a general guideline without any serious opposition, then I guess you can consider it 'law.' Otherwise we can voice our discontent here.
I. No links to Gamingsteve
The main reason I bring this up is because we are trying for a clean split here. I don't think it is too big a problem if people are using their old races in this new galaxy, but there shouldn't be any links to the old pages. That's the entire point of moving over to this new forum, to 'forget' about the other galaxy. Having these little links all over the place will inevitably influence our galaxy in ways that many would rather avoid.
Also, in order for it to matter on these forums, the content should be included on these forums. That means you can't reference the GamingSteve threads if someone questions your creature etc.
II. No Galaxy Maps
I know this will be a source of at least some debate, but maps are more detrimental to RPs than helpful. We need to get rid of these boundaries, especially because the best we can produce would be a 2D map for a 3D galaxy, which doesn't make much sense. Not using galaxy maps allows for more creativity and less confusion on everyone's part.
Now, this doesn't mean you can't draw out a little map of your race's empire, or of some space station that an RP might take place on. That's fine, just so long as you don't start including the position of other races empires, especially if you don't have their creator's consent.
That's all I've got for now. Go ahead and agree, disagree, challenge, change, or suggest your own 'rules' that you think should be included on this forum. The only way to establish them is to talk about them.
