Interesting you should bring that up Yuu, since my next update was going to deal with their perspective on other races. And there shipbuilding processes since I decided to tack that on as well.
Foreign Relations
To most foreigners, the Amorusk are not too friendly, but at the same time they aren't overly hostile. The Amorusk have a healthy suspicion of foreigners. The original outlook on any foreigner is to be cautious and wary. It isn't very common to see the Amorusk population mingling with different races. They prefer to stick with their own kind, in their own mound cities.
That's not to say that the Amorusk are shut-ins. They just prefer their own species, and their own lifestyle. They are more comfortable in the familiar and aren't overly ambitious explorers. So, for the most part, their cities and planets are open to foreigners and merchants who wish to visit and transact among the Amorusk. The only exception to this rule is the Amoruskian home planet, Mimya. There are absolutely no foreigners allowed on the home planet whatsoever. This includes space stations and space ships that happen to be in orbit around the planet. This is more of a religious side effect, since their home planet is their idol. They view the feet, graspers, and other walkers of aliens as unclean. To allow them to so much as step foot on the home planet would be a disgrace, punishable by death.
The Amorusk are very protective of their home planet, so much so that they even restrict traffic within the homesystem. Any foreign ship detected within the Amoruskian homesystem, without forewarning is immediately fired upon and destroyed. There are no exceptions. The Amorusk make this very clear upon the establishment of trade relations.
Shipbuilding
Amoruskian shipbuilding is actually based off the design of their own bodies. That's not to say that they design their ships to look like themselves, but that they take the basic segment idea and apply it to their own ships. Nearly all ships, no matter the size or class, are separated into different segments. These segments have the ability to be completely self-sustainable. If one section is damaged and hazardous to life, the crew can simply evacuate to the nearest segment.
There are limitations to this though. There are still main engines and main generators located at specific areas in the ship. If the ship these specific segments are somehow damaged and shutoff from the rest of the ship, then the ship will lose the ability to carry out most of its normal functions, but it will still have the ability to keep the Amorusk aboard alive. For example, if the generator segment of a warship is destroyed, the ability to fire the energy weapons would be taken out, but the Amorusk would still be able to stay alive aboard their ship.
This segment design allows for several bonuses when it comes to Amoruskian shipping. For the most part, the segments are designed in the same way. Because of this, certain segments can be switched in and out between ships. Also, if one segment of a ship was heavily damaged, it is possible to simply switch this area out. This saves the entire ship from being scuttled and can be done rather quickly in comparison to other repairs. The final bonus is that the life support design allows for the crew to stay alive and possibly repair the damaged sections while still in deep space. This makes the Amoruskian ships quite resilient, both as merchant ships and warships.
