Uplifting
The Galdeen has encountered a number of primitive races while exploring space. Most in shambles beyond recovery by themselves or their worlds being in the process of destroying themselves, either by natural or artificial causes. Whatever the case. the Galdeen attempt to repair the damage done, in secret or actively, depending on the locals' reaction.
There are a few races that haven't nearly destroyed themselves almost all of them are tribals using wooden spears and straw huts. One is about to begin their Industrial Revolution.
Out of every race they found, one race was accepted as a member world of the Galdeen Coalition. They called themselves the Luur, a race of aquatic mammals. When a survey vessel of the Galdeen Colonial Administration warped into their home system and scanned it. A pirate force was in orbit around their homeworld of Gliir. The pirates had released a air-borne virus into the atmosphere with horrible results, nearly two billion out of the 4 1/2 billion population had died by the time the survey vessel arrived and the pirates were demanding total control and enslavement. The local governments were secretly constructing a arkship that will carry most of their population to a nearby system, yet because the pirates had total orbital control, they wouldn't make it pass low orbit.
The survey ship quickly returned to Galieen and reported to situation to the Military High Command and they responded by sending a full fledged battle fleet. When fleet arrived, they caught the pirates by surprise just as they were about to engage the arkship. The admiral and diplomat that was aboard assured the Luur they were friendly and when they scanned the virus, they discovered the virus was just the Galdeen's equivalent to the common cold which was eliminated on their homeworld. A cure was quickly made and the Luur were quick to recover with help from the Galdeen.
As pliots, the Luur were among the best in the known galaxy because they always think in 3-D unlike most races that evolved on land. They made excellent fighter pliots, even better than the Galdeen. They made the Luur their official military fighter pilots and allowed them to construct their own fighters. With the assistance of Galdeen engineering and Luur designers. They made a fighter that outmatched almost any Galdeen fighter. Since just about every fighter in the Galdeen Interstellar Navy is piloted by the aquatic Luur, carriers and escort carriers are built with special compartments for them to shed their environmental suits that are filled with liquid oxygen medium.
That took me a long time to make, still feel like I'm missing something though. . . Oh well, its good anyway. Oh! And the Luur look like slightly larger dolphins with extra fins and another set of eyes.
Oh wait. . . That was what I forgot to put in.
