Man I'd like to see these guys all decked out in some 3D video game. Those Vatxah sure would make for interesting foes to do battle with. Outside of that, I'd love to see more forms, but that's just me, I suppose. >.> Either that or their starship-equivalents.

Yeah, if their starships can change shape too. Then space battles are going to be alot more interesting.

Normal Technology Normal devex technology encompasses all technologies not derived from what the devex define as Xor. However, due to the mostly ambiguous nature with which they define the term, people not acquainted with the creatures' history would find it hard to distinguish those that are based on Xor, and those that are not. Fortunately, several devex scholars have pointed out some guidelines that can help foreigners distinguish, at least to an extent, normal technologies from those based on Xor. Generally, normal technologies are: - Physical in nature.
- Comparatively more stable.
- User friendly.
- Extant even from before Xedah's unification.

Xakat Mhonxak, "Small Machine" The most prevalent devex technology, Xakat Mhonxak, or "Small Machine ," serves as the foundation of almost everything most people know about the devex.
On a technical level, xakat mhonxak are completely identical to what Terrans call "nanomachines," small microscopic machines used for a variety of purposes requiring extremely thorough, or precise, manipulation.
The technology is several epochs beyond that found on Terra, though they still share the same basic idea. Xakat mhonxak are used in a multitude of ways by the devex. The following are several prime examples of devex implementation of xakat mhonxak:
- Basic unit of the temex used by all devex.
- Primary material used in construction of devex structures.
- Main component in all devex implements.
- Fundamental instrument in the devex' methods of environmental manipulation.

Lixotah xhel Xalom, "Control of [the] World" Another common, yet rarely noticed, devex technology, Lixotah xhel Xalom, or "Control of [the] World," serves as the way by hich current devex civilization is able to cover their world under an urban curtain yet still retain a stable biological environment. Lixotah xhel xalom encompasses a wide range of constituent technologies and methodologies, the most commonly known being Lixotah xhel Xhom, or "Control of [the] Heat," which is known in Terra under the term thermo-regulation. Lixotah xhel xhom is used to control the temperature of the environment, keeping it stable amidst the skyrocketing albedo brought about by Xedah's urban sprawl. It is also used to control the weather, as it has been found that relatively small changes in temperature can greatly affect the overall pattern of the planet's weather systems, at least to an extent. Lixotah xhel Ximyam, or "Control of [the] Water , is another common technology. It is primarily used to manipulate the composition of substances, usually liquid, usually through the use of infused xakat mhonxak. A common Terran example of lixotah xhel ximyam is the addition of Chlorine into the public water supply. Below are common examples of lixotah xhel ximyam in a Xedah setting:
- Regulation of potentially toxic materials in Xedah's waters.
- Regulation of ecosystem balance.
- Purification of waste materials before its disposal into Xedah's waters.
- Purification of raw materials before its utilization.
- Debris clearing operations during demolition or disaster response.

Xarqov Kemetxhat, "Close Metal" Magnetic technology, or Xarqov Kemetxhat, "Close Metal ," is quite prevalent in devex civilization. It is used extensively in both civilian and military endeavors, especially in transportation and weaponry, respectively.
Below are several civilian applications of xarqov kemetxhat:
- Levitation devices integrated in roads, tunnels and walkways, allowing faster than walking travel at the slightest of one's whim.
- High-capacity magnetic hover mechanisms which give some xuda augmented range, maneuverability and lifting capacity.
- Medical operations which require extraction of shrapnel, or other hazardous and magnetically receptive material, from sensitive locations like the xel.
The following are excellent examples of xarqov kemetxhat's military applications:
- Rail weaponry, which has greater kinetic power than gas-propelled mechanisms.
- Magnetic shields, which can disable electronics and, given enough distance, bend the trajectories of hostile projectiles, or if from a very distant location, even redirect them back at the aggressor.
- Space-based magnetically induced artificial gravity which only metal-based, or metal-clad, organisms are receptive to, giving devex firm ground for heavy weaponry while simultaneously denying it to their aggressors.
Most importantly, however, is the fact that without xarqov kemetxhat, the xel of most devex would fall right off of their chests or shoulders, which is never a good thing.

Valxah, "Blade" The art of the Valxah, or "Blade ," is a very ancient technology stretching all the way back to a time before even the first cities were born. Simply, it is all technologies dealing with the production of blades, usually for hunting, slaughtering or war.
There is a wide range of valxah currently being used in devex society. Some are state of the art, though the majority still depend on the core philosophies first developed during their analogue of the Renaissance. Coincidentally, the devex' renaissance counterpart was also the time when the art of producing valxah was bombarded by numerous innovations. The setting and raw materials used for production might be different today, but the overall methodology actually hasn't changed much.
Perhaps one of the greatest reasons why the devex still adhere to the blade, despite the advent of more advanced weaponry, is the fact that some people are devout technical pacifists. Then again, it might just be the strong cultural identity tied to the now aging, yet still highly competitive, technology.

Xokah Xholok, "Forceful Sand" Xokah Xholok, or "Forceful Sand," is the art of chemical explosives. It is the summation of all the different techniques by which volatile chemical reactions can be induced. Xokah xholok is not quite prevalent in devex society, most users belonging to xuda which either study or employ the ancient art. Of all the xuda involved in it's production and implementation, perhaps the military ones are fond of it the most. Of the many military xuda which use xokah xholok, the Xalmaga, or "Revolver ," are usually said to be one of the most prevalent users of them all, as can be seen in their standard issue 120 millimeter hand cannons, which are loaded with high explosive rounds capable of destroying heavily armored targets.

Immune System The Devex have no clearly defined immune system. They do, however, possess microscopic machines which kill off pathogens that might, or are currently, invading the body. These machines are usually located anywhere in the body, including the surface of the skins, the interior of bodily components and the inner and outer lining of the vessels.

Xalsetah, "[The] Carrier" Pictured: Size comparison between an average xalsetah (left) and vatxah (lower right). The Xalsetah, or"[The] Carrier ," are one of the largest forms of devex. From front to end, the average xalsetah boasts a length of almost 100 meters, making them one of the largest space-based xuda in devex civilization. They are easily recognized by their thick tubular appearance and six large panel-like appendages.
The xalsetah are used by other devex to transport personnel and equipment across the vast ocean of stars. Immense in size, an entire division, or approximately 30,000, averagely-sized xarab can fit quite nicely within a single xalsetah, and with generous elbow room to boot.
Pictured: Xalsetah anterior (top) and posterior (bottom). Note the primary sub-light propulsion system in the devex' posterior.
Alone, the xalsetah can be used to quickly travel between planetary distances, even if it can only reach sub-light speeds. When paired with an individual that can access the devex' brand of superluminal travel, these massive wonders of devex engineering could be used to jump across vast swaths of space in relatively an instant. The xalsetah do not require pilots, as they are the captain, the helmsman, the navigator, the engine crew, and the ship itself, all rolled into one.
When planetside, xalsetah usually limit themselves to wide open areas like lakes, plains and oceans, though there are several plazas specifically designed for xalsetah and other xuda of similar form.
Pictured: The xalsetah's core located in a personal chamber near the very anterior of the body.
Despite all the wondrous things inherent in being a xalsetah, there are certain drawbacks in joining this xuda. Firstly, there's the obvious problem of size, which consequently urges members of this xuda to avoid narrow and congested areas, like city centers. Secondly, there is the constant risk of severe accidents which plague all space-based occupations. Watching Xedah from its upper orbit sounds incredibly swell, until one realizes the fact that micrometeorites are a major pain in the metaphorical, and literal, behind.
Those being said, the life of a xalsetah can be described as a life of profound social detachment. On the one hand, a person would have the freedom to visit the wonders of Tebex with little effort. On the other hand, a person is likewise deprived their freedom to physically interact with planet-bound loved ones.
Still, there is a small glimmer of hope for those eager to traverse the stars yet unable to completely detach themselves physically from Xedah. Services exist which allow distant individuals to physically meet with their significant others through the use of remotely controlled vatxah, which can act as one's avatar by changing its shape to that of a vague imitation of the standard devex form.

Updated the directory. Those Vatxah sure would make for interesting foes to do battle with. Indeed. Their fighting style will be highlighted more when I finish Book One. Outside of that, I'd love to see more forms, but that's just me, I suppose. Be sure to check out the list of Xuda and tell which ones you want to know more about.
Update Time!
Xah Xiraq, "The Reaper" Pictured: A xiraq holding a newly manufactured xel (upper left) while wielding a magnetic scythe. The Xiraq, or "[The] Reaper ," are one of the most important forms of devex. Standing at an average height of 2 meters, they are one of the slightly larger forms of devex. They are easily recognized by their xel-attachable hat, long and thin build and the multipurpose scythe which they always carry around with them.
The xiraq are tasked with managing the birth of new devex. And if need be, protecting the Ximzarak xhel Xer from anyone, or anything, that dares tread upon its inner sanctum with nefarious intent.
Trained in both the ritual and martial arts, they are expected to be capable of both holding important ceremonies and guarding the people charged under their care, and if need be, fighting in the field of war.
In battle, the xiraq employs extremely fluid motions as it brandishes its magnetic scythe. While on the defensive, it usually flies across the room while clinging to its magnetically propelled scythe, putting the weapon between itself and hostile fire in order to deflect, or redirect, oncoming projectiles.
It commonly employs two different strategies when going on the offensive. When melee is a viable option, it slides across the ceiling, walls and floor at incredibly fast speeds, spinning like a pinwheel as its magnetic scythe rips through enemy armor. If the opportunity presents itself, it can even pick up small armored targets using its scythe before hurling it back at other nearby adversaries.
When the enemy is at a distance, the xiraq will instead pull in any magnetically receptive object, or even small armored adversaries, using its magnetic scythe and then tossing it at the target. When no ammunition is available, the xiraq will try to make its own by ripping the environment apart and using metallic debris as buckshot, if small, or impromptu cannonballs if sufficiently massive.
There is another rarely known strategy, though it works only against targets that possess computerized thought processes. The xiraq would approach the adversary and use its magnetic scythe to fry the enemy's brain, thereby rendering it inoperable. That being said, it can also be used against a fellow devex.
Xiraq possess a special place in devex society, more so than most others. The reapers and their scythes, which symbolize the harvest and thus life and prosperity, have always been treated with utmost respect.

Xam xhel Xarah "Sea of Mountain" The Xam xhel Xarah, or "Sea of Mountain ," is the region of Tebex located roughly between the orbits of the planets Xedah and Xoldah Xarah. It is occupied by numerous irregularly shaped bodies called, Xarah, or "Mountain," the devex term for asteroids or dwarf planets. There are other asteroids located elsewhere, though the region is the only one with a considerable concentration.
More than half of the region's mass is contained in the four largest objects: Xalkamah, or "Messenger," Xhiryon, or "Armor," and Xamit Xakhab, or "2 Weeper." These have mean diameters of more than 450 kilometers, while Xalkamah, the region's only dwarf planet, is about 950 kilometers in diameter. The remaining bodies range down to the size of a dust particle. The asteroid material is so thinly distributed that multiple unmanned spacecraft have traversed it without incident. Nonetheless, collisions between large asteroids do occur, and these can form an asteroid family whose members have similar orbital characteristics and compositions. Collisions also produce a fine dust that forms a major component of Xoldah Xammah's ecliptic light. Individual asteroids within the belt are categorized by their composition, with most falling into either carbonaceous, silicate and metal-rich, the most common being the silicate and then going down from there.
Xam xhel Xarah formed from the primordial stellar nebula as a group of planetesimals, the smaller precursors of the planets. Between Xedah and Xoldah Xarah, however, gravitational perturbations from the gas giant imbued the planetesimals with too much orbital energy for them to accrete into a planet. Collisions became too violent, and instead of sticking together, the planetesimals shattered. As a result, most of the belt's mass has been lost since the formation of Tebex. Some fragments can eventually find their way into Xedah, leading to meteorite impacts with the planet and its moon.
